After more than 20 years in the IT industry, we've experienced just about everything the industry has to offer. We've seen the academic world, developed and designed software for years, led teams and departments, interacted with clients and fought competition. What we definitely learned is:
Although our business is so fast-paced and quickly changing, there are many recurring issues and challenges: and that's because of people. Whether a college graduate, career changer or programming genius ... hardly anyone brings the skills that a higher career path requires. We're talking about all the skills beyond code like process know-how, business acumen, the right attitude and, most importantly, communication and soft skills. They are often painfully acquired through trial and error and lot's of time. This is unpleasant for oneself, but also bad to the quality of outcome and ultimately to the company.
Thats why we've conducted hundreds of interviews with experienced software engineers, architects, team leaders and CTOs and brought it together with our own experience to create a compact course for learning all the relevant skills beyond code along the entire IT career path. All lessons are based on real problems and real situations that one will most probably have to face during a career. Our course prepares our students for such situations and provides solutions and practical exercises.
"Our industry focuses too much on technology instead of the people using it. Improving the interaction between people, especially technicians and non-technicians is where the major potential for improvement lies. If you do not understand the problem, even the best tool will not produce a good solution for you."

"As manager of an IT department, I have been conducting hundreds of IT job interviews and mentored juniors, mids and seniors. Lack of willingness to learn and improve their soft skills and lack of showing business understanding was the major reasons for people not landing the job or getting promoted."
